The last of our workshops for 2023-2024 are coming up June 3 and 4.
Come learn folk dance styles from United Kingdom, Mexico, and Czech Republic
in partnership with International Folk Fest Murfreesboro as well as a West African dance with our own NYAMA Diaspora Ensemble - Workshops are FREE - Days begin at 10 am and end around 2 pm
The Global Education Center offers a Summer Multicultural Arts Institute for Teachers as well as several one-day professional development opportunities. These in-service trainings are for teachers that need, and want, to explore the cultural traditions and values of the different students they teach. By educating these teachers about their students and their families they are better able to create an environment of inclusion and respect within their individual classrooms and throughout the whole school environment.
We believe strongly that creating an inclusive and respectful school environment is one of the most effective tools for ending the bullying, the disrespect and the self-esteem problems evident in our schools today. The Global Education Center's multicultural arts integration professional development offers a creative and engaging solution by promoting cross-cultural understanding and respect and equipping teachers to better handle the diversity within their own classrooms while giving them the tools to integrate the arts of the world into the entire curriculum. CHECK OUT THIS SLIDE SHOW FOR UPCOMING WORKSHOPS in partnership with International Folk Fest Murfreesboro. These will be a combination performance/workshop. Our Professional Development Workshops for Teachers are made possible with support from The Nissan Foundation, The Memorial Foundation, The Robert K and Anne H Zelle Fund for Fine and Performing Arts of the Community Foundation of Tennessee, Tennessee Arts Commission, Metro Arts, and National Endowment for the Arts.
